Privacy Policy

Effective March 31, 2026

Overview

Subtext is operated by Copiapoa Technologies, Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). Privacy is central to what we build. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you authenticate via X (Twitter), your public profile information including display name, handle, and follower count.

Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not store credit card numbers or bank account details on our servers.

Group chat messages. When a creator adds the Subtext AI agent to a group conversation, messages from that group are ingested for summarization. These messages are encrypted at rest and processed solely to generate anonymized posts.

Usage data. We collect standard analytics data such as page views, device type, and referral source to improve the Service. We do not sell this data.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to: operate and improve the Service; generate anonymized posts from group conversations; process payments and creator payouts; send transactional emails such as post notifications and account updates; and comply with legal obligations.

Anonymization and crypto-shredding

Our AI summarizer produces third-person prose with no names, direct quotes, or attribution. After a post is published and the retention window closes, source messages are crypto-shredded — the encryption keys used to protect them are permanently destroyed, making the original messages unrecoverable.

This means we cannot retrieve, replay, or produce the original messages after shredding, even in response to a legal request.

Identity verification

Group participants verify their identity through X (Twitter). This verification is used to establish trust and aggregate social proof (e.g., total follower count). Individual identities are never revealed to subscribers. Display names in published posts are anonymized and randomized.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with: service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, payments, email delivery); law enforcement when required by law; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.

Data retention

Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. Source messages are retained only until crypto-shredding occurs after post publication. Published posts are retained indefinitely unless the creator deletes them. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Cookies and tracking

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences. We may use analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction or deletion of your data; object to or restrict processing; and request data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. The effective date at the top of the page indicates the most recent revision.
